Join us to explore how art can offer creative strategies for learning across the curriculum

Immerse yourself in a day of thinking and making alongside other teachers to explore how being with art can develop your pupils' emotional, intellectual and social wellbeing.

Art is a powerful means of communication. It can foster great joy and create space for open and even difficult conversations. A useful bridge between multiple ideas and different experiences, it can foster empathy and support learning together.

Capable of provoking debate, exciting and sometimes confusing, art can be a significant tool for supporting young people as they navigate the challenges of both school and day to day life.

It was collaborative, exciting, thoughtful, reflective. Great to have conversations with other teachers.

What will the day involve?

Join multi-disciplinary artist and arts educator Jessica Ashman, the Tate Schools & Teachers team and a cohort of teaching peers for a day of discussion, practical activities, reflection and collaborative working. You will:

  • Spend time between the galleries and a dedicated learning space
  • Share and create strategies for supporting teaching and learning with art
  • Encounter new cultural references and consider strategies for decolonising your classroom
  • Consider ways to take your learning back to the classroom
  • Make connections between your learning and that of your students

Who is this for?

This study day is relevant for all teachers of any subjects and will bring professionals together across learning settings, specialisms and at any stage of their career. Trainee teachers are welcome.

We strongly encourage and welcome Global Majority and Disabled teachers, as well as teachers in SEND schools or alternative provisions to attend as these teachers are currently under-represented in our teacher audience.
